Texas practice

Texas

What other vendors sell a Texas firm, we give away: the citation check, the clause survey with every authority quoted, contract review against Texas law, the Texas deadline rules, timekeeping, the case-file scrambler. No seats, no minimum, no trial. What is metered is only what costs us money: the model call you choose to make, and the retrieval behind a research question, which is $0.01 per query on this host. The one thing we charge for as work is configuring all of it to run on your firm's own hardware.

What is live for Texas today

Each entry carries how you reach it (no account, sign in, or a key we mint) and its real status on this host, read from the same switches the API gates on. Every count and date below is read from the law and the code at the moment you load the page.

  • Texas law in chat, with your choice of model

    sign in live

Ask a Texas question and the answer is grounded in the libraries below, with the passage it rests on quoted back. You pick which model answers from the list this deployment allows, the same allow-list the route enforces, and every answer names the model that produced it. No GPT or OpenAI model is ever offered, and one would be refused even if a configuration named it.

    • 615,391Texas case lawthrough 2026-06-26
    • 122,681Texas statutesthrough 2026
    • 866Texas court rulesthrough 2026-09-05
    • 370Texas county and local rulesthrough 2023-12
    • 45,660U.S. Supreme Courtthrough 2026-06-29

Retrieval is $0.01 per query on this host; the model call it makes is metered on the rate card like any other, and bringing your own key means we bill nothing for the model. Each library is complete only through the date beside it, and a decision or amendment after that date is not held. Texas case law is not uniformly current: Twelfth COA (Tyler) through 2024-11-27, Fourteenth COA (Houston) through 2024-12-06 and Fifth COA (Dallas) through 2025-08-26. Those opinions are absent from the public record we draw on, verified against its own bulk export, so they will not appear on a routine refresh and a search returning nothing for them is our gap rather than an absence of authority. Texas county and local rules cover 18 of 254 counties (370 documents); 236 counties are not held at all. Coverage within those 18 is uneven: 12 of them hold 3 documents or fewer (Bell, Cameron, Collin, Denton, Galveston, Hidalgo, Lubbock, McLennan, Montgomery, Nueces, Webb, Williamson), so a hit from one of those counties is not a complete rule set. A local rule must be posted to topics.txcourts.gov to be effective; check that site for the county you are filing in. This is retrieval over the libraries listed, not a national case-law service.

  • The MCP connector, and the key we mint for a firm

    API key live

Point any MCP-aware client (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, or your own HTTP client) at https://docketrouter.ai/api/mcp with your key as a bearer token, and your agent reads Texas law itself. The search_texas_law tool retrieves from the same libraries, at 30 calls a minute with a burst of 10, drawing the same per-key allowance as POST /api/v1/rag/query, so using both doors for one job is one bill rather than two. Mint the key at /keys: it is shown once and carries a hard spend cap enforced upstream, so spend can never exceed the cap you set.

Retrieval is $0.01 per query on this host, metered identically whether the call arrives over MCP or REST. There is no trial allowance on this host, so a new account has no spend headroom until it adds credits: the mint refuses a cap it cannot back rather than issuing a key that would fail on its first call. The tool returns hits with a verbatim snippet and never a generated answer, and it answers from the libraries above rather than the whole country. For case law outside them, mount a national case-law server such as CourtListener's beside this one. A key carries no organisation, so it never reaches a matter shared with your firm.

  • Citation check for a Texas brief

    no account live

Paste a brief or drop a .docx (read in your browser, never uploaded) and every case citation in it is checked for existence against 18,123,788 citations across 989 reporters and the Texas law index, with the case name where the citation graph knows it and, where we hold later-treatment data for that library, a flag when a later opinion said it overruled the case. Underneath: a table of authorities you can paste into Word.

Free, no account, nothing stored. Up to 50 distinct citations and 50,000 characters a run, case citations only. Existence only: a citation we cannot find is reported as unverified, never as fabricated, and a treatment flag means a later opinion said it overruled the case, while the absence of a flag is not a clean bill.

  • Texas contract law, quoted from its authorities

    no account live

26 Texas rules across 21 clause families: what the rule is, the trap that makes a clause drafted elsewhere fail in Texas, and all 213 authorities behind them with the sentence that states the rule quoted word for word and a link to read it yourself. Every one of the 26 has been re-read at the 2026-10-03 reading bar, which is the current one. Put Texas beside two or three other states on one clause family in the same view.

Free, no account. A rule appears only when its every authority was independently verified: a written but unverified rule is absent from the page rather than shown as a weaker entry. A clause family Texas is missing from is a family we do not answer for Texas, and we do not fill the gap with a neighbouring state's rule or with "generally". This is research, not advice, which is why the authority is on the page.

  • Contract review against Texas law, with your own playbook

sign in or API key live on this host

Paste a contract or a clause, pick Texas, and each clause is read against those same verified Texas rules, each quoted from the statute or opinion it rests on, saying what the rule is, what the trap is, and what it could not verify. Write your own position on a clause family (required, forbidden, or must say this phrase) and every clause found is read against it too: meets, conflicts, or not addressed.

Free: part of the free package by decision, not a trial. Its own model spend is under a cent and counts against a key's spend cap like any call. A playbook verdict is decided by exactly two things, the rule you wrote and the text of the one clause it is checked against, with no model consulted, so "conflicts" means your phrase did not match and says nothing about whether the clause is enforceable.

  • Texas deadlines

    no account live

The Texas computation-of-time rule we hold word for word, Tex. R. Civ. P. 4, counts a period from a trigger date and shows every step with the rule's own words beside it. Paste docket entries or events and the Texas period rules we hold word for word (Tex. R. Civ. P. 99(b) and Tex. R. Civ. P. 329b(a)) are applied to the ones that match, each deadline carrying the rule's sentence and the entry it came from.

Free, no account, and the paste path runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded. Holidays are not applied: the Texas rule does not define a legal holiday and we do not hold the statute that fixes the holiday dates, so the count skips Saturdays and Sundays only, and the calculator names that statute itself. Rule 4 itself excepts the three-day periods in Rules 21 and 21a: for those, Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays ARE counted. This tool cannot tell which period you are computing, so check the quoted text if yours is a Rule 21/21a three-day period. Tex. R. Civ. P. 99(b) and Tex. R. Civ. P. 329b(a) only ever run from events you paste: Texas state dockets are not in CourtListener RECAP, which is federal only, so no CourtListener docket can supply this date. It has to be supplied by hand. An entry it cannot classify is listed with the reason, never dropped silently, and it does not know local rules, standing orders or service additions.

  • Timekeeping

sign in live on this host

Draft time entries derived from the work you did here (research, citation checks, contract review, chat on a matter), reviewed against each client's own billing guidelines, exported as CSV, LEDES 1998B or Clio's import file, or pushed to Clio. Paste a client's outside-counsel guidelines and the billing rules in them are read out with the client's own sentence beside each one.

Free. Entries are a floor on time spent on this platform, not an estimate of your day: you edit and approve before export. The guideline reading is patterns over the client's own sentences with no model and nothing invented: a sentence that reads like a billing rule but maps to no field is listed with the reason rather than dropped.

  • The case-file scrambler

    sign in live

A Texas case file is pseudonymized on our own hardware before any frontier model sees it; the real names come back in the answer and the document restores byte-exact. The mapping is encrypted per matter and never returned by any route. Code does every replacement, so a detector can propose a span but never write one.

Free: it runs on our own hardware, so there is no model bill to pass on. The PII filter that strengthens it is a per-host switch and is not switched on where you are reading this; measured 2026-10-08 on 167 adversarial filings carrying 3,241 planted secrets, the pattern pass alone left 128.7 per thousand of them in the text and the pattern pass plus the filter left 35.8, at 2.89 seconds a filing, with no citation destroyed and no filing refused in either arm. Placeholder substitution is not anonymity, because residual facts can re-identify people, and the filter's own authors call it a redaction and data-minimization aid rather than an anonymization or compliance guarantee.

Beside what they charge for it

Every figure below is a price printed on that vendor's own site, read on 2026-10-07, with the page it came from: 15 figures from 8 vendors. None of them is a Texas product: these are sold nationally, per seat, and a Texas firm buys them for the same work this page gives away. Prices change; this is a snapshot of that day, not a feed, and the link is there so you can check any of them. The same list of work is free here, with no seats to buy.

Run it on your own hardware

Configuration for your firm's own machines

contact

This is the one thing that is a person's work rather than a switch, and the one thing we would charge for: we stand the whole of it up on hardware your firm owns. The Texas libraries listed above, served and answering on your own network; the verified Texas contract-law rules; and the scrambler with its PII filter, in its own environment, with the span service your own application calls and the guard that refuses a citation, a party of a cited case, a statute or a torn fragment before any of it reaches your documents. Written to leave your firm with something it can run and measure without us.

What is custom is exactly three things: your hardware, your client guidelines, and your clause playbooks. Nothing above this section has a price of its own: there is no seat, no minimum and no subscription to reach any of it; what is metered is the model call you choose to make and the retrieval behind it, which is $0.01 per query on this host. This section has no price at all, because it is scoped per firm rather than sold; it starts with a conversation.

What the filter is measured to add, so you can judge it before you ask: on 167 adversarial filings carrying 3,241 planted secrets, measured 2026-10-08 with no generative model in either arm, the pattern pass alone left 128.7 per thousand of them in the text (interval 117.6 to 140.6) and the pattern pass plus the filter left 35.8 (29.9 to 42.8), at 2.89 seconds a filing. 0 citations were destroyed and 0 filings refused in either arm. Organisations and sitting judges are the weakest types, because the filter has no label for an organisation and treats a judge as public. The weights are Apache 2.0, so your firm needs no licence from anyone and we redistribute none of them.

Not yet

What a Texas firm might reasonably expect and will not find here, with the reason. This list is read from the same switches as the one above, so it is the truth about the host you are reading.

  • Texas state-court dockets not available

Texas state filings live behind re:SearchTX, which needs a Tyler/OCA agreement we do not have. No Texas state docket can be read by id here, which is why every Texas deadline on this page comes from events you paste.

  • Docket alerts not available

Watching a federal docket and being told when a filing lands depends on a commercial data licence that is not yet in place. The screen says so rather than showing an empty list.

  • The PII filter on this host not available

The scrambler works without it; where the filter is unset the scrambler is byte-for-byte what it was before the filter existed, and no page claims otherwise.

  • Federal and other states' case law in a Texas answer not available

The libraries above are what a Texas answer is grounded in. Other states' opinions, statutes and rules are published openly, and they enter the serving library at the founder's go: held is not served.

How this page was made

Nothing here is typed. The library counts and their dates come from the inventory the API itself answers from; the Texas rule counts and every quoted authority come from the contract-law loader at the moment you load the page; the deadline rules are the ones we hold word for word, cited by their own numbers; the connector's rate limit is the one the route admits on; and the retrieval price is whatever this host charges, which is why this page can read differently on two hosts. The competitors' figures are their own, with the page and the date. Questions: hello@docketrouter.ai.
